- Tronox is a member of UN Global Compact and is committed to making its 10 principles—many of which are directly related to human and labor rights—part of the values, culture and day-to-day operations of our company.
- An important part of our commitment to human rights is ensuring that child labor, slavery or human trafficking are not taking place in any form within Tronox’s business or any part of its supply chain. This commitment is encapsulated in our Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement, as well as our Code of Conduct and Supplier Code of Conduct.
- We maintain a host of policies, practices and procedures designed to ensure that we respect human rights by fighting against discrimination based on race, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, age, ancestry, religion, or ethnicity. We actively encourage all of our employees to report any actual or suspected discrimination through our “Speak Up!” hotline. Each allegation is thoroughly investigated and, if substantiated, we promptly mitigate the situation giving rise to the allegation.
- Two of our most important mining and beneficiation sites are located in the Republic of South Africa: Brand Se Baai (Namakwa Sands) and Kwa-Zulu Natal (KZN Sands). Many aspects of our South African business mining activities are governed by the Mining Charter which is a set of requirements promulgated by the South African Department of Mineral Resources (DMRE) intended, in part, to address historical inequalities in aspects of ownership, procurement, employment equity and employee skills development. Our progress in meeting the standards of the Mining Charter for these items is encapsulated in the Mining Charter Scorecard which is an assessment criteria that each mine operator must make public. Our South African mining and beneficiation sites are annually assessed against the compliance targets contained in Mining Charter Scorecard.
